Susan Bell – success at Pink Lady Food Photography Awards

We had a very happy, champagne fuelled, night out (thank you Tattinger and Pink Lady) at the Food Photography Awards last night .  It’s always a lovely chance to see many of our favourite clients in one place, and to look at some amazing food photography on the walls.  But last night, we had even more to reason to enjoy it as our very own Susan Bell won first prize in the  Production Paradise Food off the Press category (https://www.pinkladyfoodphotographeroftheyear.com/finalists-gallery-2016/ ) To say that Susan was surprised to win would be an understatement – but she rallied round and we helped her to celebrate late into the evening.  Congratulations Susan on a fabulous win! Cook Nourish-985-Salmonstill-EditRetouched

The photographer is Simon Terrill – well known for his crowd photography.  If you have any connection with Brockley and fancy being part of a mass photograph with thousands of other people now is your chance! All the info is here – and we hope to see you there… http://www.brockleysociety.org.uk/thenandnow/

Welcoming Tom Parker – amazing travel and lifestyle photographer

travel002

We are so pleased to announce that very talented travel and lifestyle photographer Tom Parker has joined Lucid Representation.

Tom’s career as a photographer was established during the Asian Tsunami in 2004, when his photographs of the unfolding tragedy were used on the front pages of almost every international newspaper. Nowadays he’s renowned for capturing exquisite, iconic images of some of the most beautiful places on earth. Tom has shot in over 80 countries and last year alone flew the equivalent of round the world five times. He is immensely versatile – working in the deepest mine in Asia to shooting erupting volcanoes from helicopters in the Congo, as well as capturing the essence of luxurious hotels.

It’s probably best not look at his pictures before you book your summer holidays (serious travel envy), but do have a look at his work here: https://www.lucidrep.com/photographers/tom-parker-2/

Do give us a ring or email if you want to arrange to meet Tom, or call in his books and we look forward to showing you his work soon!

Pick up a (D&AD) pencil

210131_d553ee3305464914b75ffb3c1bd0eb74We are absolutely delighted that Robyn Vickers and the Ogilvy and Mather crew won a graphite pencil in the D&AD for their project for Amnesty. It was a tricky project involving hours and hours of work with melted wax, candles, models and hidden figures.  The project raised both money and awareness for Amnesty and was a great success.  We are proud that Robyn was involved – you can see more about the project here:

Yes chef!

Screen Shot 2015-05-20 at 14.41.58

For a man of simple tastes when it comes to food over the last few years Mark Harrison has a spent a lot of time with Michelin starred chefs.  This fantastic shoot for Stylist Magazine starred the leading female chefs worldwide.  Greedy types that we are at Lucid we were disappointed he didn’t bring us back any high end snacks  – but the pictures are great, so we were visually satisfied instead… You can read the story in full in this weeks  magazine – out now or see the rest of the tear sheets under commissioned work on Mark’s webpage.

The other side of the camera

Mark Harrison was photographing an author in Frankfurt last week, who has written a rather lovely description of what it is like to be on the other side of the lens*.  It’s absolutely worth a read for the quality of the writing, but it also encapsulates all the elements that we think make Mark such a brilliant portrait photographer – makes us feel quite proud of working with him!

#InLucidsWindow

This morning we unveiled the latest addition to our office and new regular feature #InLucidsWindow

Every month we’ll be showcasing a different image from one of our lovely photographers.

Kicking things off is Mark Harrison with his portrait of Alexandra Schulman, which can also be seen hanging in the National Portrait Gallery.
