We worked on a great project with David Boni and GateLondon before lockdown – to promote the launch of ‘London Power’ with the Mayor of London – a way of giving Londoners access to cheaper energy, using 100% renewable electricity, profits reinvested into community projects and making London a zero-carbon city. Add to this a shoot brief including pigeons AND parrots – well what’s not to like?
To work on a project for a product you believe in, with great creative and a fantastic team is the unicorn of shoots, so we were delighted to shoot this – the only caveats were a tight budget and an even tighter shooting schedule – shooting both stills and moving image in a day, with some backplates shot in advance.
We even ended up working with bird royalty – the macaw that appeared in Paddington 2 – and had a lot of fun on set with stunt doubles, cheeky pigeons and some very noisy birds in the green room. Thanks, Street Studios for taking it all in your stride, to the creatives and producers at Gate London and of course, to all of our amazing bird wranglers/set builders/stylists/DOP/assistants and everyone else who helped to bring this all together.
