Rowan Fee – Butter Knives
In their first creative collaboration, photographer/director Rowan Fee and special effects model maker Bill Turpin joined forces – shining a light on the ease and accessibility of young people procuring knives in the UK. Within the last few years, bigger and more vicious blades have become everyday objects – seen as a status symbol on the streets and glorified online. For some young people, carrying a knife has become as normal as buttering toast. Wanting to draw attention to this important topic, a creative and conceptual series was born. The cosy domesticity of each background is deliberate. The tablecloth, grained wood, sunlight, and butter dish – all juxtaposed against the brutal shape of the blades.
